Even movies that did not have an official theatrical release with us (eg because the movie was released by a competitor or already came to the cinemas via a self-distribution) or films that are a bit older (up to classics), but still interesting for cinema screenings, can be obtained through us. Some genre films (such as documentaries, thrillers, sci-fi or horror movies) can also be booked at UCM.ONE. Most of these films have no official theatrical release either, but are rather booked by cinema operators for special events or specific events (themed weeks, Halloween, horror nights).

Merlin (Mario Ganss) is working as an editor at a film production company when he realises that he is stuck in a time loop lasting several minutes. When he meets Ava (Jasmin Wagner), a mute woman who also knows about the time loop, they both plunge into a battle between past and future. Their mission: “Kill the clown and save the mermaid!”
The story tells of time loops that last only a few minutes. The audience experiences the story from the perspective of Merlin and Ava in real time: only a few minutes forward at a time – then time runs backwards. These time loops are interrupted by flashbacks to Ava and Merlin’s past. In this way, the plot continues to assemble in the audience’s mind’s eye – like a jigsaw puzzle made up of pieces of time.

Theo (Marcus Grüsser) always dreamed of a career as a writer, but always failed because of his fear of failing. Involution tells us the story of Hamming and Liv, a couple living in the future. A future that’s reality is a far cry from the one we live in today. The Earth has been sent out of control, affected by a cruel and inhuman mechanism that turns back Darwin’s theory of Evolution… Every person gradually starts to feel animal instincts: uncontrolled aggression, protection of offspring, spontaneous sexual desire. All this creates chaos on the planet and leads directly to the extinction of mankind. Hamming meets Liv right before these horrifying events. And it seems that nothing can stand in the way of their relationship. However, quite soon, Liv disappears, and Hamming has to make an important step – to face the world endangering his very own life in order to find her. Hamming clearly does not fit into the outside world, as his previous life up to this moment was private and as comfortable as can be. Each event means overcoming his internal fears, but he is not going to stop until he finds Liv.
The overall mood of the film is the clash between the future and the past, high-tech civilization and animal instincts. The sci-fi thriller features elements of action, drama and satire, while the visual world called “Involution” is magical and profound.

Photographer, author and filmmaker Miron Zownir’s second feature film, “Back to Nothing”, was shot on abandoned, dilapidated locations in Berlin. A group of freaks subsist as city nomads in an uncontrolled ghetto, doomed for demolition. Hell breaks loose when their last hide out – a condemned factory complex – is to be knocked down. Kongo, Strasser, Bobby and Jackie are heading out – back to nothing. Zownir’s stark b/w imagery depicts an erratic, immoral shadow world without hope or mercy, that forces his protagonists to the lowest level of survival.
As in his praised b/w photography work, Zownir’s cinematic vision focuses on the hopeless, lonely, beaten and left-behind drifting through ruined, derelict urban landscapes. For “Back to Nothing” he teamed up with DOP Philip Koepsell. They created raw, rare images of Berlin’s seedy underbelly, deeply infested with nightmarish melancholia.

The film takes place in 2020. According to the narrator, billions of people worldwide are victims of “digital, media, narcissistic, hedonistic, careerist and consumer-oriented overstimulation and suggestion by the establishment.” Hundreds of millions of westerners suffer from epidemic anhedonia, the inability to feel joy, lust, love and fun. Doc Rock works as a radio presenter on the pirate channel ” Night Hawk ”. The most delicate theme of his program is the so-called Nachtschlitzer, an ultra-brutal serial killer who keeps the city in suspense. His favorite victims are young, beautiful women, whom he separates neatly and in the living body, the limbs. After their agonizing death, he transforms them into a human vase by putting a long-stemmed rose deep in their mouths. Doc does not want to understand why this abysmal evil killer is still running around freely. And so he provokes the police over the air with the question, why one can not prevent that madman slaughtering his next victim.
A few moments later, in the basement of his house, a call reaches him in the studio – the night slicer himself is on the line. And Doc Rock proposes an equally perfidious and murderous game: If Doc manages to prevent him from committing another murder during his radio show, he would be willing to actually let his hostage live. Now the moderator has to act fast. And he can not afford a mistake. Because the killer is much closer to him than he would have thought in his wildest dreams – and the chances of escaping him, go to zero.

Berlin in the 90s – In addition to the great political upheavals and the commercialized technoculture, a now rather forgotten parallel universe shaped the lifestyle of the city: the world of cellar bars and backyard creatives.
In the free houses and apartments in Berlin-Mitte celebrated after the fall of the wall, a scene of very different young people a carefree freedom. Whether a project was promising or not – no matter – you lived from one event to the next experiment and operated the Ent-Establishment of art and market quite playful.
The film “Berlinized” describes this special way of life in a reflexive journey through time to Berlin in the mid-90s. The filmmaker Lucian Busse, himself an active protagonist of that time, used his camera to document the city’s transformation, the art scene, clubs, concerts and construction sites, where the open spaces were filled with ever new impersonal office buildings.

The anthropology student Markus deals in his study with popular superstition and the poltergeist phenomenon. In order to prevent weather-related catastrophes on earth, the two astronauts and sole crew Max Marek and Billy Hayes are trying to influence weather events by the means of a newly developed radiation technology. However, when a revolution suddenly breaks out in Saudi Arabia, the technology is to be misused for US military purposes. When they find out that US military takes ground control of the station, Hayes and Marek attempt to sabotage the system in order to prevent severe natural disasters. As a result, the station’s reactor system is damaged.
Ground control dispatches two astronauts – Eva Thompson, Max’s partner, and Gregor Vandenberg – to Florida Arklab to take command of the station itself. The East German farmer Hermann Güden has enough of the state-arranged harassment of the SED superiors. He is no longer willing to submit to compulsory collectivization at home in his Saxon-Anhalt village, as this condition no longer offers him any prospects. And so he plans a long-run escape to the West. Güden initially sends his wife and child to the West of Berlin and wants to follow as soon as possible.
But the SED apparatchiks get wind of the matter. In the heat of the moment Güden beat up the party comrade Baade and then flees.
