Samson” is a splendid mixture of the historical adventures “The Ten Commandments” and “300“. “Samson” is visually stunning and has a star-studded cast. Among others: Billy Zane (“Titanic“, “Twin Peaks“), Rutger Hauer (“Blade Runner“) and Lindsay Wagner (“The Seven Million Dollar Woman“).

The film is the first major costume film epic from the Pure Flix studios, filmed at impressive locations in South Africa.

The biblical hero from the Book of Judges was first made by Hollywood in 1949 as “Samson & Delilah”. The film was directed by the legendary producer Cecil B. DeMille (“The Ten Commandments“). The biblical epic was directed by Bruce MacDonald, who most recently directed the surfer biopic “The Perfect Wave“.

Summary:

1170 BC: The people of Israel live in despair under the iron bondage of the Philistines and wait for a saviour. Samson appears to be this saviour: even his birth is a miracle, as his mother could not actually have children. But an angel announced to her that she would have a child whose hair must never be cut and that he would become a hero of Israel. So it happens, and the child with the long hair becomes the young Samson (Taylor James), who slowly realises his unimaginable powers and then, as the head of Israel – as a judge – keeps the Philistines in check.

But Samson is not only strong and courageous, he also has weaknesses. He likes riddles and sometimes loses. And he likes beautiful women, mostly from the enemy, the Philistines, which always gets him into trouble. When he confides the secret of his enormous power to his wife Delila (Caitlin Leahy), she betrays him and the cunning Rallah (Jackson Rathbone) is able to capture Samson. Samson is imprisoned, blinded and forced into slave labour. But that is not the end of Samson…
