The film “The Patriot“, which is the second feature-length film by Oscar®-winning cinematographer Dean Semler (“Dances with Wolves“, “Deathly Silence“, “Apocalypto“, “Waterworld“), is particularly impressive due to its outstanding cinematography. “The Patriot” was also the first production that Steven Seagal and his production company managed without the support of Warner Brothers.
Due to high demand, UCM.ONE is releasing a new limited Blu-ray edition with a new cover on the film label M-Square Pictures in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. “The Patriot” has all the ingredients that a good Seagal film needs: Evil terrorists, a hero with a CIA past and eco-criticism. The film also looks great visually and offers beautiful landscapes with some very clever shots.
Summary:
The nature-loving doctor and naturopath Dr Wesley McClaren (Steven Seagal) is actually a very solid and nice person who can’t hurt a fly. This changes abruptly when militant fascists who want to conquer America settle in the Rocky Mountains. The American population is threatened with the ultimate catastrophe. In order to take control of US military and technological facilities, fanatical terrorists have deployed a deadly virus that is spreading rapidly among the people of a small town in Nebraska. A killer virus that could destroy the entire population of North America in a very short time. Dr Wesley McClaren seems to be immune to the virus, but not to the Russian elite killer Govol, who is supposed to prevent survivors like McClaren from leaving the town and, as a possible carrier of the virus, becoming a deadly weapon himself. Having become the killer’s target, the townspeople have no choice but to wage a merciless battle against an overpowering opponent.
In this film, which is based on a book called “The Last Canadian” by US author William Heine, Steven Seagal was exceptionally – and for the first and only time so far – dubbed by Manfred Lehmann, Bruce Willis‘ regular voice actor.
