As of today, it’s official: „Nico“ by director Eline Gehring has been shortlisted for the German Film Award 2022 in the feature film category! Here, „Nico“ finds itself in the illustrious company of other outstanding works such as „Great Freedom“ (by Sebastian Meise), „AEIOU – A Quick Alphabet of Love“ (by Nicolette Krebitz), „Lieber Thomas“ (by Andreas Kleinert), „Rabiye Kurnaz vs. George W. Bush“ (by Andreas Dresen) or „Spencer“ (by Pablo Larraín). The complete list of the 25 nominated feature films can be found here: Shortlisted for the German Film Award 2022.
The “Lolas” will be awarded this year on 24 June at the Palais am Funkturm in Berlin.
„Nico“, for which Eline Gehring wrote the screenplay together with cinematographer Francy Fabritz and producer and leading actress Sara Fazilat, will be released by UCM.ONE in spring 2022 on the Darling Berlin label.
It celebrated its German premiere at the Max Ophüls Preis Film Festival in January 2021, where Sara Fazilat won the award for Best Young Actress. She was also awarded the No Fear Award as producer at the First Steps Award 2021. Since then, „Nico“ has had an impressive festival career with over 40 international festival participations and many awards.
