The documentary “Searching Eva” by director Pia Hellenthal will celebrate its world premiere on 11 February in the official programme of this year’s 69th Berlinale. This extraordinary portrait has been nominated for Best Documentary in both the Panorama Documents section and the Teddy Award. UCM.ONE starts “Searching Eva” in November 2019 in cinemas all over Germany.

The documentary illuminates the life of Eva: 25, vagabond, model, poet, sex worker, feminist, musician, zodiac sign virgin – gave herself the name Eva at the age of 14, declared privacy an outdated concept and published her first diary entry online. Since then, she has shared her life with kids from all over the world down to the most intimate detail. This is the story of a young woman who has grown up on the Internet and turns her self-search into a public spectacle that raises the question of what “a woman has to be”. Eva’s many changing personas reveal a generation for whom the concept of a fixed identity has become obsolete.
