On January 24, 2020, more than a decade after the predecessor “The Darkness“, Finnish death and gothic doom metal icon Tuomas Saukkonen came back with “Waves“, his second solo album with Dawn of Solace. Heavy and dark, yet carried by a certain beauty and power – the long-awaited follow-up painted an honest & personal picture of the times and delivered exactly the kind of atmosphere everyone had hoped for.
Already during the recording of this album it was clear that Dawn of Solace was brought back to life – and that without letting another 14 years drag into the country! “Flames of Perdition” picks up where Dawn of Solace left off with “Waves” and creates a world of electrifying melancholy that evokes deep sadness. Like life itself, Dawn of Solace‘s darkness has evolved. This time with an extra dose of loneliness that we have all come to know in the last 1.5 years.
