It all began in the rowdy year of 2012 … Formed in Stockholm, Sweden, The Vice started off with a bang and quickly after released the 5- track EP “Let Me Go“. Even though it was a pretty straightforward, punkish creation the sinister roots of the band (all members born and raised in the North of Sweden) was present from the get go. The following years came a bunch of other singles, videos, the debut album (“Selftitled“, released on Rambo Music), lots of shows all over the country, two trips to the U.K-crowds and the first European tour.
In the beginning of 2017 The Vice released the single “A prayer cast in stone“, which marked the start of the future of the band. First time as a trio and with a more honest and harsh approach, first steps were taken into what one day will become. Multiple shows in Sweden, the U.K and once again the Czech Republic, new videos and another single entitled “XIII Years” would follow until it was time to start focusing on the new full length album.
The band comments: “Act two commence… Come 2020 and it’s time for something new my friends. Only a bit fashionable late, the new album’s done and ready to shed some light on the darkest pits of the scene. The duality that has been the blood and soul of The Vice since the beginning has been refined, further polarized and has matured into something quite beautiful. And it’s within this twilight the band revels. Between the creation and the coming attractions, life and death, the Oasis and the Emperor, the vast woods and the cold concrete.”

Building upon the foundations set by their previous work – the band’s unique blend of filthy rock, blackened metal, gothic influences and death-ridden pop – “Dead Canary Run” takes listeners down a deranged path that The Vice has masterfully crafted over the years. With an eclectic mix of genres thriving like never before, the album promises to captivate fans with its raw energy and infectious melodies. While some elements may feel familiar, there are numerous new levels that The Vice has reached with this new offering. Collaborating with an old partner in crime, Joel Öhman, who added his piano skills to a couple of songs, The Vice emerged from studio “Underjord” late last Summer with an album they couldn’t be more proud of.
“Dead Canary Run”, released in January 2024, serves as a testament to the band’s growth since their recent full-length album “White Teeth Rebellion“, showcasing their passion and determination, with their amps cranked up to 11.
