The up-and-coming hard rock formation S.O.R.M has released a new single, which is accompanied by the legendary Doug Blair from W.A.S.P and has been taken from the current album. The song, titled “Under My Skin” and also the title track of the current album, presents the band’s typical mix of modern and traditional heavy music with a touch of power ballad magic.

“I’m very proud of a collaboration that started two years ago when Micke Holm asked me if I’d like to contribute to a track his band S.O.R.M was recording,” says Doug Blair. “I had met Micke after he bought the very last unsold 1990 BLAIR MUTANT TWIN double-neck acoustic/e-guitar, which I took to his colleague in Stockholm. Since then we’ve played together a few times, in Sweden and Finland, as a duo and with S.O.R.M. It’s been great to get to know the guys and be a bit involved in their development!”

He continues, “I cautiously agreed to listen to a song (I’m always skeptical by nature), but ‘Under My Skin’ had me hooked from the first listen! Micke’s vocals, the lyrics and the dynamics of the arrangement made me want to come up with something cool for the emotional solo part. Last year we finally found time to meet up in Stockholm and mix the song – because I had asked for (and demoed) some effective ideas for the overall arrangement and dynamics that I thought would improve the result! If you like my leads on “Heaven’s Hung”, “Miss You”, etc., you’ll like this song and this lead! Give these guys a listen and I’ll be announcing another gig with Micke soon!”

Guitarist and singer Micke Holm about the track: “This version of ‘Under My Skin’ was the original version of the song from the beginning. It was supposed to be on the album, but unfortunately it wasn’t finished in time. That’s why we made a piano version for the record. For this power ballad version, we have the honor of working with Doug Blair from the legendary W.A.S.P and Anna BrygÃ¥rd from Nightflight Orchestra.”

In addition, this song is a very special piece of music for guitarist and singer Micke Holm, as the band reveals: “Under My Skin is a very personal song for Micke. It’s about how he struggled with depression and suicidal fears for many years. And it’s also a reminder to anyone who suffers from anxiety or knows someone who does that you’re not alone! We are all brothers and sisters fighting the same war!”

Founded in 2017, S.O.R.M quickly made a name for themselves with the release of their outstanding “Hellraiser” EP (2020). With influences ranging from Grand Magus to Ghost and Judas Priest, S.O.R.M have developed their own sound that appeals to a broad heavy music audience.

The band, consisting of Micke Holm (guitar and vocals), Johan Östman (bass) and Robin Wernebratt (drums), signed to Noble Demon in 2020 and released their debut album in August 2023. Tracks like “I Die For My Rock N Roll” (feat. Dee Snider guitarist Nick Petrino) and “Crazy” have already caught the attention of fans and critics alike and with their latest single, featuring Doug Blair from W.A.S.P, the band continues to set the bar high.
