British alternative metal band Neonfly have announced the release of their upcoming live EP ‘Master Tapes – 10 Years Live at Masters of Rock’, which will be released on 19th June via Noble Demon.

Having played the festival for the fourth time in ten years in 2022, this digital EP commemorates the band’s ten-year journey since their first captivating performance on the international stage. The Masters of Rock Festival holds a special place in Neonfly‘s heart, having provided them with a crucial platform that kick-started the band’s international presence. With each of their performances, Neonfly have forged a further connection with fans and the festival community, culminating in this special EP that revisits their decade-long Masters Of Rock Festival adventure from humble beginnings to the here and now.

Neonfly comment: ‘Our journey with Masters of Rock began in 2012 when we played a packed second stage and won the hearts and minds of everyone in attendance. This led to us returning the following year and being promoted to an early afternoon slot on the main stage. Since then, Czech fans, especially those of the Masters of Rock, have always had a special place in our hearts.

Playing there feels like coming home and we wanted to say thank you to all the fans who have rocked with us over the years and also to the fantastic team at Pragokoncert for their tireless support.

Our first live recording dates back to our Main Stage debut in 2013, where we presented the then unreleased track ‘Heart of the Sun’, which will later be featured on our second album.

The live version has been remixed and remastered for this release.

In 2015, we returned to the main stage for another epic performance, proving that Neonfly is a force to be reckoned with. This show also marked the debut of our fire-breathing performance, performed by guitarist Frederick Thunder, which has since become a staple at our festivals. Two tracks are from this show, ‘A Gift to Remember’ and ‘Morning Star’.

Even though we performed at Metalfest 2017, which was also organised by Pragokoncert, it took us another seven years in total to return to Masters of Rock. Originally scheduled for 2020, the pandemic put our plans on hold until 2022, making our return a special moment and marking our 10-year ‘MORversary’. ‘Highways to Nowhere’ and ‘This World is Burning’ are from that show, with the respective videos edited by Frederick Thunder.’

The music video for the track ‘Highways to Nowhere’, which the band presented at the Masters of Rock Festival 2022, can now be seen on YouTube, among other places.

Guitarist Frederick Thunder on the song: ‘’Highways to Nowhere’ has been a staple in our setlist since our second album “Strangers in Paradise” was released. It’s really punchy and straightforward, and it’s a great song to start the set with a bang and set the tone for the rest of the show. Even after all these years, the song seems to have grown in popularity, as evidenced by the number of people requesting it and the way it has positioned itself as one of our most popular songs on streaming platforms. It seemed like a good choice as an opener for our EP to celebrate what Neonfly is all about live.’

Neonfly relive unforgettable moments from their return in 2022 after a seven-year hiatus, offering a vivid snapshot of their spirited performances with anthems like ‘Highways to Nowhere’ and ‘This World is Burning’ that capture the essence of their 10-year ‘MORversary’. With their seamless blend of raw energy, intricate melodies and captivating visual effects, Neonfly‘s live recordings transcend mere music and embody a celebration of unity, resilience and passion that they share with their fans worldwide.

Master Tapes – 10 Years Live at Masters of Rock’ will be released digitally via Noble Demon on June 19, 2024.
