The Darling Berlin comedy “Heiko’s World” (Original German title: “Heikos Welt“) by Dominik Galizia is part of the pre-selection for the “Lola” 2023. The German Film Award will be presented in several categories on 12 May 2023 in Berlin. The final nominees will be announced on 24 March. last year, the Darling Berlin film Nico made it onto the longlist, lead actress Sara Fazilat was ultimately nominated for “Best Actress”.
“Heiko’s World” lead actor Martin Rohde has already been honoured with the Award for New German Cinema in 2021 as “best leading actor”.
The film whimsically tells the story of a son who saves his mother’s eyesight by playing darts and drinking beer. The film is now in its 35th week in cinemas and has so far reached more than 25,000 viewers in German cinemas.
“Heiko’s World” (German title: “Heikos Welt“) is a wacky, loving ode to – and odyssey through – Berlin’s corner pubs with their very own fauna of original characters, full of unexpected twists and turns, and with a main character who grows on us on her beer-soaked hero’s journey.
The German Film Award – the most prestigious and highest endowed award for German film – is endowed with prize money from the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media totalling almost 3 million euros and is awarded by the Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth MdB following the election by the members of the German Film Academy. The award ceremony is an event organised by the German Film Academy in cooperation with the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media (BKM) and produced by Deutsche Filmakademie Produktion GmbH.
