Darling Berlin is present at the renowned Filmkunstmesse Leipzig with “HomeSick”, a fascinating chamber drama by Austrian director Jakob M. Erwa, which had its world premiere at this year’s Berlinale and is released on the Darling Berlin label.
The “disturbing, Polanski-like hybrid of a thriller and a gracefully photographed art house movie” (Zitty Berlin) tells the smart story of the ambitious cello student Jessica, who moves into a new flat together with her boyfriend Lorenz, with plausible characters and surprising twists and turns. When Jessica receives the honorable invitation to represent Germany at an international contest for classic music, it seems to be her great opportunity – at the same time it means enormous pressure. In her home, Jessica starts to prepare herself meticulously for the contest. However, her own four walls don’t seem to give her shelter as she finds herself more and more exposed to small and major anonymous harassments. What is the neighbor’s involvement prying mysteriously behind half-closed curtains…?
The Filmkunstmesse Leipzig is a unique event in Europe, now being held for the 15th time in 2015, assembling more than 1,000 experts from the Art House sector in Leipzig. From Monday 14th until Friday 18th September, cinema operators can watch the most recent productions and discuss the most burning questions of the scene in panels and workshops.
“HomeSick” will be screened three times at the Filmkunstmesse Leipzig: on Wednesday, 16th September at 5.30 pm at the Schauburg and again at 9.30 pm at the Kinobar, as well as on Friday, 18th September at 10 am at the Passage (Filmeck).
