The film “15 Killings” (German title: „15 Killings – Interview mit einem Serienkiller“) by I. Drakos was inspired by the British serial killer Dennis Nilsen, who claimed to have murdered 15 young men in London between 1978 and 1983, mostly by strangulation, and was sentenced to life in prison for it. The so-called “Muswell Hill Murderer” died in 2018 after more than 34 years behind bars.
“15 Killings” is released on the U1 Films Berlin label in the original, re-cut version as a worldwide Blu-Ray and DVD premiere. Especially for all fans of the brilliant Netflix series “Mindhunter” starring Jonathan Groff and Holt McCallany, this film is highly recommended.
Synopsis
The renowned neurologist Dr. Kentyl (Maria Olsen) studies the imprisoned 15-time murderer Norris (Steve Bongeorno). She asks him to describe his deeds in detail and hopes to gain new insights into the processes in the brain of serial offenders. But his descriptions of how he picked up desperate bar patrons and homeless people to strangle them in their sleep and then hid the bodies under the floorboards in his flat shock her to the core.
It was only when neighbours complained about the stench of decay coming from Norris’ flat and he started disposing of the bodies through the building’s drainage system that the inconspicuous neighbour came to their attention. Kentyl gains a deeper insight into Norris’ psyche than she would like.
Comments on the film
“Overall a very good acting performance by the lead actor. With a little more budget this could have been a really great film.” (amazon.uk / review)
“The actor playing killer Steve Bongeorno is convincing and almost the spitting image of real-life Scottish sociopath Dennis Nilsen.“ (films-list.com / review)
