Dawn of Solace, the musical solo project of Tuomas Saukkonen (Wolfheart, Before the Dawn), has set the course for their highly anticipated new studio album ‘Affliction Vortex’, which will be released by Noble Demon and can be pre-ordered from today on CD and as a strictly limited vinyl edition.
As a taster of the release, the band has presented the first single ‘Murder’, a track that masterfully embodies the Dawn of Solace-typical blend of Finnish melancholy and unrelenting intensity.
Tuomas Saukkonen on the track: ‘Murder was the first song written, and usually my first choice for the first single. A majestic beacon that guided the rest of the creative process with its cold and dark light.’
The song is released together with a brand new music video, directed by Winter Notes Production.
Dawn of Solace, formed in 2005 as Saukkonen’s side project, embodied a different shade of musical creativity, and their debut album, The Darkness, was released in 2006. Despite a decade-long hiatus due to legal issues, the band’s loyal fan base kept the flame burning, and the debut album received a great response on digital platforms such as Spotify.
2019 marked a fresh start as all obstacles to the band’s continuation were finally overcome and a new alliance with German label Noble Demon was forged. This partnership has been one of the main driving forces behind bringing Dawn of Solace back onto the international melancholic metal scene, including two full-length albums (‘Waves’ 2020, ‘Flames of Perdition’ 2022) and an unplugged EP, until the band went into the studio at the beginning of 2024 to produce their most diverse album to date. The resulting work, ‘Affliction Vortex’, embodies Nordic melancholy and unadulterated Finnish darkness and will be released on 14 February 2025.
