As one of Japan’s biggest and most successful producers Ken Ishii has contributed a lot to its motherland’s great reputation in respect of techno music. Seeing Ken team up with Tokyo-based duo WADA and Heigo Tani aka Co-Fusion is a joy for every techno enthusiast. The result of this fruitful collaboration is total stunner.
The title track “Raw Look” cuts right to the chase: Japanese techno is freaky, authentic and aaabsolutely bad-ass. Obviously “Raw Look” was not designed for some decent hip swinging since this record is an unleashed Frankenstein that goes completely berserk. And although it triggers quite a lot of 90s nostalgia, it is also very much in the present age and dominates with its incredible level of energy and intoxicating conception. The B-side “Raw Twist adds more groove to the EP and lets off a hi-hat firework that will simply blow your mind. The trio seems to burst with versatility as well as confidence and can easily be considered an early Christmas gift for real techno lovers. This EP is not for the faint-hearted and will stir up quite some frenzy on the floors worldwide.
