Roland Emmerich‘s graduation film “The Noah’s Ark Principle” (German: “Das Arche Noah Prinzip“) at the Munich Academy of Film and Television (HFF Müchen), which already shows the preference of the later director of lavish blockbusters like “Independence Day” and “The Day after Tomorrow” for science fiction, is now released on the label U8 Films Berlin by UCM.ONE on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The early work of Roland Emmerich already offers considerable show values despite a modest budget. Among the recognizable models of Roland Emmerich is the film “2001” by Stanley Kubrick.
Synopsis:
In 1997, the two astronauts Max Marek (Franz Buchrieser) and Billy Hayes (Richy Müller) research devices on the Florida Arklab space station that are supposed to have an influence on the global climate. When a crisis occurs in the Middle East, the weather control technology is to be misused for military purposes: The weather-influencing beams have a side effect; they act like stealth. Thus, a lightning-fast invasion by allied forces could go undetected. However, the use of the beams would trigger a devastating flood catastrophe of biblical proportions.
Max has scruples and sabotages the computer programs. When ground control notices this manipulation, two other astronauts are sent into space to replace Max and Billy: the inscrutable Gregor (Nikolas Lansky) and Eva (Avira Joel), Max’s wife.
Gregor is empowered to enforce the military’s orders, by force if necessary. It comes to a fight – everyone must consider on which side he stands. A murderous race against time begins …
