Following his successful debut with the “KPM EP”, ankai returns to the legendary techno label Harthouse to present his second release, the “Hypernova EP”. Three powerful tracks consistently build on the musical direction of his debut, combining driving peak-time techno with hypnotic synth sequences, analogue-inspired soundscapes and an intense, futuristic atmosphere.
The title “Hypernova” symbolises the explosive energy that runs through the entire release. Powerful basslines, precise percussion and pulsating rhythms form the foundation for a cosmic-sounding sonic journey, in which repetitive structures and subtle shifts combine to create a continuous build-up of tension. In doing so, ankai succeeds in combining raw club energy with a keen sense of sonic detail and spatial depth.
The three tracks are consistently geared towards the intense hours of the night. Analogue timbres meet modern sound design, whilst hypnotic melodies and dynamic arrangements create a dense, almost trance-like atmosphere. Rather than relying on short-lived effects, ankai opts for a steady build-up that really comes into its own on large sound systems and during extended DJ sets.
