The film distributor UCM.ONE is bringing the multi-award-winning feature film NIE ALLEIN (Original title: Ei koskaan yksin, International title: Never Alone) by director Klaus Härö to Austrian theaters in a limited release. The Austrian premiere will take place on Tuesday, June 2, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. at the Filmcasino Wien — in cooperation with the Austrian-Finnish Society Vienna. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the film crew.
This moving film, based on true events and exploring moral courage, responsibility, and humanity, premiered in German theaters on February 5, 2026. With its Vienna premiere and a subsequent theater tour through Upper Austria, “Never Alone” is now coming to the very place where part of the film was shot: Austria is one of the co-producing countries.
For the premiere on June 2, 2026, at 8:00 p.m. and the subsequent film discussion at the Filmcasino Wien , members of the cast and crew will be in attendance, including the actors Naemi Latzer (Janka) and Rony Herman (Georg Kollmann), as well as producers Loredana Rehekampff and Andreas Schmied and production coordinator Melanie Stoff (Samsara Filmproduktion, Vienna).
The premiere is taking place in cooperation with the Austrian-Finnish Society Vienna and the Filmcasino Wien.

“Never Alone” is an international co-production from Finland, Austria, Germany, Estonia, and Sweden. The Austrian portion is handled by the Vienna-based Samsara Filmproduktion, led by producers Loredana Rehekampff and Andreas Schmied. In front of the camera, Austrian actors are also represented by Naemi Latzer, Rony Herman, Alexander Jagsch , and Lukas Walcher. The fact that the film begins its theatrical run in Austria at the historic Filmcasino Wien and then moves on to Upper Austria thus also brings the production’s journey full circle.
Following the Vienna premiere, “Never Alone” will be shown in several Upper Austrian theaters. The tour kicks off with a tour day on June 3 featuring Naemi Latzer and Rony Herman, who will accompany the special screenings at the Programmkino Wels (6:00 p.m.) and subsequently at the Moviemento Linz (8:00 p.m.), followed by a Q&A. Starting June 4, the film will open regularly in Freistadt and Katsdorf, as well as at select other Austrian cinemas.

“Never Alone” tells the story of Jewish refugees who sought shelter in Finland during World War II—and of a man who risked everything to protect them.
Synopsis
As the shadow of World War II looms over Central Europe, many Jewish people flee Nazi persecution and seek refuge in distant lands. Some make their way to Finland, hoping for a fresh start. But Finland’s alliance with Nazi Germany turns this supposed safe haven upside down: When Jewish refugees are to be forcibly deported to German concentration camps, Abraham Stiller, a respected member of the Jewish community in Helsinki, cannot stand idly by. The textile manufacturer does everything in his power to house and protect the refugees in his factories—and in doing so, increasingly reaches his own limits.
Director Klaus Härö, whose films have been nominated for Oscars® on multiple occasions (Elina, The Fencer), combines historical accuracy with the intensity of an intimate drama.
“Never Alone” celebrated its world premiere as the opening film of the Baltic Competition at the Tallinn Black Nights Film Festival (PÖFF) in 2024 and has since received international accolades—including the “Best of Fest” Audience Award at the Palm Springs International Film Festival in 2025 and the Bernhard Wicki Audience Award (Silver SCORE) at the Emden-Norderney International Film Festival in 2025.

Klaus Härö became best known for “My Sailor, My Love” (2022) and “The Fencer” (2015), which was nominated for a Golden Globe and was once again on the Oscar shortlist for Best International Feature Film.
Ville Virtanen, known for films such as “Priest of Evil,” “A Respectable Comedy,” and “Better Times,” takes on the lead role of Abraham Stiller. Rain Tolk, European Shooting Star of the Year 2007, appears as Heinrich Huppert, who was also deported, while Ruben Tolk plays his son Kurt. Lukas Walcher appears in a smaller role as a German officer, and Alexander Jagsch portrays Heinrich Müller. Jouko Puolanto takes on the role of Finnish Prime Minister Johan Wilhelm Rangell.
