The Swedish symphonic metal band Zornheym has released “Somewhere Far Beyond”, the first single and music video from their upcoming studio album “Descending Into Madness”, which is set to be released on October 2 via Noble Demon.
With “Descending Into Madness,” the band’s third full-length album, Zornheym present a prequel to the dark and multi-layered story surrounding the “Zornheim” asylum, its inmates, and their doctors—in a world where it is never entirely clear who is actually insane.
“In an era obsessed with speed and instant results, we made a conscious choice to prioritize substance over shortcuts. This album was crafted over the course of years through tireless writing, arranging, and refinement. Every decision carried weight. Every layer was carefully developed. Nothing was rushed, nothing left to chance – until the vision was complete,” the band comments. “‘‘Somewhere Far Beyond’ is the first glimpse into this new chapter: a prequel that takes us back to the moment Dr. Bettelheim first arrives in Zornheim – long before the madness fully unfolds. The track captures the epic, choral power that defines the album and pushes our sound further than ever before, with every band member performing at their absolute peak.”
Zornheym was founded in Stockholm, Sweden, as the ambitious vision of its founder, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter Zorn (ex-Dark Funeral) – with the goal of realizing his vision of the ultimate concept band: a complete fusion of music, narration, and visual storytelling. Since its inception, the band has made it its mission to redefine the classic “metal meets symphony” approach and develop a sound that combines cinematic orchestration with a powerful heavy metal foundation and strong influences from melodic death metal – driven by a distinct flair for epic, memorable melodies.
At the heart of Zornheym lies a dark, ever-expanding narrative universe. Each album unfolds within the walls of the Zornheim Mental Asylum – a place full of mysteries, madness, and horror – where the institution itself becomes the central figure. Across multiple releases, the band explores different eras of its ominous history, told through layered narratives, recurring themes, and hidden connections. This concept was introduced on the debut album “Where Hatred Dwells and Darkness Reigns” (2017) and further expanded upon on the critically acclaimed “The Zornheim Sleep Experiment” (2021), followed by the acoustic EP “The Forgotten Inmates” (2023), which concluded the first chapter of the asylum’s history.

Zornheym’s artistic vision extends far beyond music. Their releases are accompanied by detailed visual concepts and graphic novels that bring the institution and its inmates to life in another dimension, while their music videos are staged like short films, drawing the audience even deeper into the band’s universe.
On stage, Zornheym transforms into a theatrical experience, led by frontman Bendler, whose charismatic presence draws the audience deep into the spell of the band. On special occasions, actors also become part of the performance, elevating the show beyond a traditional concert to a dark, immersive spectacle.
“Descending Into Madness” will be released on October 2 via Noble Demon and is available for pre-order now. The album will be available in various exclusive formats, including colored marbled vinyl, a limited-edition collector’s edition CD, a digipak, and an A5 book.
