Time unlimited

Time unlimited has stood for uncompromising electronic music from Germany since the early 1990s. Founded in 1992 in Neckargemünd near Heidelberg by Horst Abel, Konrad Best and Joachim Keil, the label was one of the first members of the Under Cover Music Group (UCMG) and specialized early on in hard trance, tech trance, progressive trance, progressive house and ambient sounds.

The Time unlimited label stands for energetic, melodic and often clearly rave-inspired electronic music. Stylistically, the spectrum ranges from classic hard and progressive trance to technoid, acid-like tracks and atmospheric, progressive club productions.

Over the years, the label has featured releases by influential producers from the German and international scene, including in particular:

  • Roughage (Andreas Kettenbach) – whose productions have defined the hard, hypnotic core of the label’s sound from the very beginning and who bridges the gap between rave history and modern techno/trance with current EPs such as “Epoxyde” and “Purification”.
  • Nostrum (Bernd Augustinski) – with classics such as “Blow Back” or various EPs that are still considered a reference for the 90s trance sound and are currently being revisited in new versions such as “Blow Back 2025”.
  • Ray & G.O.D. – with the trance classic “Release Of Fantasy”, which was released on Time unlimited in 1998 and returns in 2025 as a digitally remastered reissue with a new mix by Rennz.

Other artists such as DJ Energy, The Apex, Alien Factory, Overcharge, Mike Koglin, Genetic, Blix Cannon and many more have helped shape the typical Time unlimited sound over the years.

Some of the label’s milestones:

Today, the Time Unlimited catalog comprises several hundred releases on vinyl, CD and digital. Legendary compilation series such as “1st Chapter Of Time Unlimited (One Year – Best Tracks!) ” or “Mix Unlimited”documented the label’s stylistic range back in the 90s and served as an introduction to the world of hard and progressive trance for many fans. Classic singles and EPs – for example by Nostrum, Roughage, Mindscape, Gain Force, Sonicity, The Apex, Onda del Futuro, DJ Metron, Overcharge feat. G-Meter, Soundscape, Tibet Team Frankfurt, Ultra, Nad’s Lab, Alien Factory or Ray & G.O.D – are still sought-after collector’s items today and are used in sets by DJs around the globe who combine the unmistakable 90s vibe with contemporary productions.

Time unlimited today

Today, Time unlimited continues as an active label under the umbrella of UCM.ONE. In addition to carefully remastered reissues from the original catalog, new EPs and singles are regularly released that translate the label’s DNA – euphoric melodies, powerful beats, trancy pads and club-ready arrangements – into the present. Current productions by Nostrum, Roughage and other artists consciously tie in with the aesthetics of the late 90s and combine them with modern production technology and contemporary sound design.

Time unlimited is therefore more than just a historical trance label: it is a vibrant platform for producers who love the spirit of the early rave era and think ahead at the same time. Whether on vinyl, digitally or in curated playlists – Time unlimited stands for timeless electronic music that unites club culture, nostalgia and innovation under one name.
