About Ray & G.O.D.:
Gregor Dietz, better known as DJ G.O.D., was part of the first generation of German techno and trance DJs. Starting in 1990, he organized some of the earliest techno parties in Mannheim and was one of the pioneers of the emerging electronic club culture in southwestern Germany. As a DJ, he played regularly at cult clubs such as Milk! in Mannheim, Normal in Heidelberg, and House in Dossenheim, where he thrilled audiences with a new, revolutionary sound. Until the closure of the WOM (World of Music) branch in Mannheim in April 1994, he DJed there regularly and presented new vinyl releases live – a rarity at the time. In 1994, Gregor Dietz founded the record store Dub Tools in Heidelberg, which was sold to Goa Records Mannheim in 1995. At the end of the 1990s, he moved to Berlin, where he launched the Surf project together with his brother Florian Dietz. Gregor Dietz died of a stroke on May 31, 2005, at the age of 38 – but his musical legacy lives on in classics such as “Release Of Fantasy.”
The second creative mind behind the project was/is Raymund Beyer, also known as Ray Boyé, who not only released on R&S Records and Sony Dance Pool, but also later collaborated with Commander Tom on productions under project names such as Mandala, Nexus 6, and the legendary “Commander Tom – Are Am Eye?” on the Time Unlimited sister label Noom Records. Raymund Beyer shaped the distinctive analog sound character through the use of classic Roland devices (TB-303, SH-101, etc.) and special effect chains.
About the label Time unlimited:
