Finnish melancholic metal virtuosos Dawn of Solace are gearing up for the release of their fourth studio album, ‘Affliction Vortex’, which is set for a February 14, 2025 release via Noble Demon. The highly anticipated follow-up to the critically acclaimed ‘Flames of Perdition’ (2022) promises to be the band’s most diverse and powerful work to date.
After releasing the first single ‘Murder’, the band has today given a further insight into their upcoming album with the track ‘Fortress’. The song is released together with a brand new music video.
‘Fortress showcases a new kind of energy and development in the music of DoS,’ explains mastermind Tuomas Saukkonen (Wolfheart, Before the Dawn). ’Definitely the most intense song on the new album and the first DoS song ever with a collaborative lyrical effort. I teamed up with an Australian poet and his extremely powerful words were like a wind in the sails in the chorus.’
Dawn of Solace was founded in 2005 as ‘creative venti’ by Tuomas Saukkonen and quickly established itself with the debut album ‘The Darkness’ (2006). Despite a hiatus due to legal complications, the band’s loyal fan base remained steadfast and kept the flame alive.
A successful return came in 2019 with the signing of Noble Demon. This partnership revitalised Dawn of Solace, resulting in two successful albums – ‘Waves’ (2020) and ‘Flames of Perdition’ (2022) – and an unplugged EP. In early 2024, the band entered the studio, determined to write their most diverse album yet.
Affliction Vortex is the culmination of this creative development. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Saku Moilanen at DeepNoise Studios, the album promises to be a dark and captivating journey through the depths of Finnish melancholy.
