Over a thousand tickets have already been secured in advance for the nationwide cinema release of “Rock ‘n’ Roll Ringo” on September 5. The world premiere in Herne and the screening of the NRW tour in Cologne have been sold out since the beginning of August.
There are also no more tickets available for the open-air event in Berlin’s Hasenheide (800 seats) on September 12. Due to the high demand, additional premiere venues are planned in Herne and Düsseldorf.
“Rock ‘n’ Roll Ringo” is the new film by ‘Heiko’s World’ director Dominik Galizia, once again starring Martin ‘Heiko’ Rohde.
The film focuses on Ringo Fleisch, a 33-year-old scaffolder from Herne, who loses his job after an accident at work and, frustrated, takes on a job as a fitter at a funfair. The dazzling world of rides, showmen and strange characters quickly captivates him. Ringo leaves his 12-year-old deaf daughter Mia with his mother and goes on tour with the funfair, which fundamentally changes his life. At the Cranger Kirmes, he meets boxing stall boss Fränkie, who gets Ringo interested in boxing and trains him as a prize fighter under the name “Rock ‘n’ Roll Ringo”.
What begins as a distraction becomes Ringo’s new passion, allowing him to immerse himself deeper and deeper in the world of the fairground. At his side are dazzling characters such as the loyal pantomime “Der Große Hainz” and the resolute Jenny from the bumper cars. But Ringo’s great hope remains his daughter Mia. His plan: at the end of the funfair season, he wants to sail to the North Sea with her on a cabin cruiser. But in order to realize this dream, Ringo becomes increasingly entangled in criminal machinations. Despite the tragic ending, Ringo’s dream becomes reality.
Following the surprise success of “Heiko’s World” in 2022, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Ringo” is already being treated as a cult film. Critics praise the mixture of absurdly funny situations, heartfelt moments and the authentic portrayal of the Ruhr region. The press describes the film as “a Ruhr Valley comedy with local charm that can hold its own with classics such as ‘Bang Boom Bang’, ‘Manta Manta’ or ‘Superstau’. The film impresses with its strong visual language, the special location and the quirky characters, which give the work a unique atmosphere.
After the world premiere in Herne (with additional screening) for the nationwide theatrical release on September 5, the film will be shown on a tour with the film team through other cinemas in North Rhine-Westphalia. On Friday, September 6, 2024, “Rock ‘n’ Roll Ringo” will be shown at the Metropol in Düsseldorf (additional screening), on Saturday, September 7, at the Cinedom in Cologne and on Sunday, September 8, at the Metropolis Buchum and the Schauburg Dortmund.
