Finnish doom metal band Grain of Pain has announced the release of their new album “Behind Us All”, which will be released on March 27 via Noble Demon. To give a first impression of the album’s dark yet emotionally profound soundscape, the band is releasing their first single, “To Burn Inside”, today.
The song is now available on all popular streaming platforms and is being released simultaneously with a brand-new music video, which can be viewed on YouTube, among other places.
With “To Burn Inside”, Grain of Pain delve deep into their characteristic blend of doom-laden heaviness and powerful melodies. A striking guest solo by Pekka Olkkonen (Stam1na) adds extra depth to the song. Lyrically, the track deals with reflections on life choices and the clarity that often only comes with age.
Mastermind Timo Solonen comments: “We are very happy to have Pekka Olkkonen on our first single, playing the solo. The song is about decisions we made earlier in life to pursue dreams that ultimately weren’t worth it. As you get older, you find out what’s really important in life, and it’s not always easy to leave your old life behind. But you can do it, as the end of the song makes clear.”
Hailing from Finland, Grain of Pain stands for a powerful and emotionally charged interpretation of doom/death metal. At the heart of the band is Timo Solonen, who is responsible for songwriting and also handles growls and guitars. On bass and clean vocals is Lars Eikind (Before The Dawn), who has already been awarded a Spellemannsprisen (Norwegian Grammy).
Session musicians Juho Räihä (guitars, additional screams) and Juuso Raatikainen (drums) also contribute – both won a Finnish Grammy in 2025 with Swallow the Sun. Drawing on a variety of influences, Grain of Pain combines dark atmospheres with powerful melodies to create songs that linger long after the last note has faded away.
After signing with German metal specialists Noble Demon in April 2024 for their debut album “The Moon Lights The Way”, Grain of Pain are now following up with their second studio album “Behind Us All”, which will be released in March 2026.
“Behind Us All” was produced, recorded, mixed, and mastered by Juho Räihä at SoundSpiral Audio Studios. The cover artwork was created by Gogo Melone.
