With his first release on the renowned label Plastic City, Ovijay presents the ‘Bossa Bass’ EP – a profound, rhythm-oriented release that delicately navigates between deep house, minimal and organic timbres.
The EP combines warm bass lines, playful percussion and a subtle hint of Latin American rhythms. Inspired by artists such as Luciano and Ray Barretto, Ovijay creates an atmospherically dense sound that works just as well at sunrise on the beach as it does in an intimate club setting.
🎧 Tracks of the EP
1. Ambala – An earthy deep house track with a rolling groove, minimalist structure and organic sound details. The perfect opener for warm sets with depth.
2. Manhã Fresca – Portuguese for “fresh morning”: airy pads, bossa-inspired rhythms and a light-footed swing meet emotional depth – subtle but haunting.
Geboren im rumänischen Timișoara, begann Ovijays Weg in die elektronische Musikszene in den frühen 2000ern – zunächst als Lichttechniker und MC, später als DJ und Veranstalter.
As founder of the party label Seara Românească, he has played alongside big names such as Paco Osuna, Rhadoo, Lee Burridge and Vera. His DJ sets are known for minimal deep tech grooves with a lot of soul and cleverly used acappellas. With the Bossa Bass EP, Ovijay now presents his first official producer statement – authentic, stylish and full of musical maturity.
