Kaunis Kuolematon, the Finnish masters of melancholy, present their most intense and emotional work to date with ‘Kun Valo Minussa Kuoli’ . The band’s fifth studio album, which has now been released via Noble Demon, shows Kaunis Kuolematon at a creative peak – tragic, angry, vulnerable and breathtakingly beautiful at the same time.

The previously released singles‘Merta’ and ‘Maailman Ainut Ihminen’ already gave an idea of where the journey is heading: an album full of contrasts. Gloomy pressure meets fragile, inward-looking moments, broad melodic arcs merge with oppressive heaviness. This duality becomes even clearer over the entire playing time. Kaunis Kuolematon have remained true to their emotional DNA since 2012, but have honed their dynamics, atmosphere and depth of expression like never before.

A perfect view into the emotional centre of the record is offered by ‘Rauniot’ – a song that the band themselves describe as follows: ““Rauniot” is about looking at your own life from the outside and going through a personal process of quietly letting go and freeing yourself through acceptance. Should we let ourselves be overwhelmed by the quiet decay and all the misery that everyone carries around with them – or do we want to detach ourselves from the suffocating hustle and bustle, knowing that we all have to walk the same final path: death?

The band hails from Hamina and has retained its original line-up since the beginning – a rarity in today’s music world. Their previous albums,‘Kylmä kaunis maailma’ (2014),‘Vapaus’ (2017),‘Syttyköön toinen aurinko’ (2020) and‘Mielenvalta’ (2023), each reflect specific moments in time – always changing, but consistent in their vision.

Since their formation in 2012, Kaunis Kuolematon have steadily created a unique soundscape that reaches far beyond genre boundaries. With a blend of brute heaviness and emotional depth, they have become a powerful voice in the Finnish metal scene – and with this new album they continue to refine their special combination of melancholy and intensity.

Although Kaunis Kuolematon are often associated with doom and death metal, their identity goes far beyond genre boundaries. Their basic attitude remains positive and forward-looking. The success of‘Mielenvalta’ (2023, NobleDemon) – which reached #6 on the official Finnish physical album charts – as well as sold-out club shows and strong festival appearances show how much their perseverance and sincerity resonates with fans.

With‘Kun Valo Minussa Kuoli’ on the horizon, Kaunis Kuolematon are now preparing to once again whisk listeners away to a world where melancholy reigns – and every note tells a story of beauty in the darkness.
