Frank de Wulf’s first part of “My Definition of…” left us stunned and dripping with sweat. Half a year later Frank De Wulf delivers part 2 and again he doesn’t grant any absolution. This EP is fire from the start and bursts with energy. With “Kicking & Cooking” Frank opens this 4-tracker in a bold fashion. A repetitive lead melody is gradually joined by more and more elements to finally immerse into a conglomerate of sound.
Next we find ourselves dragged into Frank de Wulf’s dark Techno underworld where he unleashes a firestorm of sensory impressions. “Dallol” is a rolling, acid infused Techno monster, daunting and infectious from the start. “Dallol” will work the crowd, that’s a given! Track three – “Visceral Beauty” – is just as dark and staggering yet adds a mindblowing trippyness that shakes your reality awareness to the core.
Last but not least Frank de Wulf rounds of this versatile EP with “Drum Girl“, a musical masterpiece based on organic drums creating a three-dimensional sense of space which needs so little to sound so absolute. What an ingenious ending.
Frank de Wulf, an audiophile since early childhood, can clearly be seen as a musical co-creator of the 90s and early 2000s. Be it pure techno, electronica, breaks or progressive house, Frank’s versatility is breathtaking and has earned him the respect of a worldwide audience.
