Successful theatrical release premiere of “Never Alone” in Berlin:

On February 2, 2026, the moving historical drama “Never Alone” (original title: Ei Koskaan Yksin) celebrated its German theatrical premiere at CineStar Berlin | Kino in der Kulturbrauerei. The film will be released nationwide in German cinemas on February 5, 2026. With the latest internationally produced work by renowned Finnish director Klaus Härö, UCM.ONE brings a moving story of courage, moral courage, and humanity to the big screen—reminding us of a man who risked everything to save Jewish people.

The premiere event took place in cooperation with the JFBB – Jewish Film Festival Berlin Brandenburg and the German Trade Union Confederation (DGB). This collaboration underscored the film’s particular social relevance, especially since the JFBB will be focusing its 2026 festival program (May 5–10, 2026) on the Nordic countries.

Before the screening, Stefan Körzell (member of the DGB executive board) welcomed the audience with a few words. He emphasized the importance of the film—especially against the backdrop of current right-wing extremist threats—and stressed the significance of historical memory as a mission for the present.

Following the screening (original version with German subtitles, original version with subtitles), an in-depth discussion about the film took place, moderated by Bernd Buder (program director of the JFBB). Guests included producer John Hörnschemeyer (Penned Pictures, Germany), Melanie Stoff (production coordinator, SAMSARA Film, Austria), and Austrian actors Naemi Latzer and Rony Herman. Hörnschemeyer gave an impressive account of the film’s long production history, while Latzer and Herman provided personal insights into their work and their intensive engagement with the material. The audience took a lively interest in the discussion and participated enthusiastically in the question and answer session.

In addition to numerous representatives from the film industry, guests at the event included Sofie Backman, cultural attaché at the Embassy of Finland, and Sini-Tuuli Saaristo, press officer at the embassy. Bernd Buder also welcomed a special guest, Ms. Cora Falk-Rode, the granddaughter of one of the few survivors of the deportations of Jewish refugees depicted in the film.

With the successful premiere, UCM.ONE and its partners sent a strong message about the importance of remembrance and social responsibility—and gave the film a worthy start to its nationwide theatrical release. The film will be released in German cinemas on February 5, 2026.

Klaus Härö‘s moving film tells the story of Jewish refugees who seek shelter in supposedly safe Finland during World War II, only to find themselves threatened with deportation once again due to the country’s alliance with Nazi Germany. The film centers on entrepreneur Abraham Stiller, who, at great personal risk, attempts to shelter the refugees in his production facilities and thus save their lives. Based on true historical events, “Never Alone” highlights moral courage, bravery, and resistance against state injustice under extreme conditions.
