Lotte ist direkt und kantig, dabei liebenswürdig und vor allem ausgestattet mit einer großstädtischen Schnodderschnauze. Mit all diesen Eigenschaften eckt sie permanent an, bei ihren Kollegen, Freundinnen und sogar ihrem Freund. Der wirft sie kurzerhand raus und Lotte steht auf der Straße – von jetzt an voll damit beschäftigt eine Bleibe zu finden.

Eines Nachts trifft Lotte in ihrer Stammkneipe auf Marcel, einen fast vergessenen Bekannten. Kaum hat er sie erkannt, ergreift Lotte die Flucht und findet eine rettende Bleibe in der Wohnung ihrer Freundin Sabine. Am nächsten Tag hängen Lotte die Strapazen dieser Nacht nach und scheinen sie auch während ihrer Arbeit im Krankenhaus nicht loszulassen. Ein junges Mädchen wird eingeliefert, Lotte kümmert sich um sie, eine subtile Zuneigung entsteht.

Doch die Freude darüber währt nur kurz, denn wenig später wird Lotte Zeuge einer Begegnung zwischen dem jungen Mädchen Greta und Marcel. Die Blicke der drei kreuzen sich und Lotte ahnt, dass es diesmal keine Flucht für sie geben wird.
