Im Mai 1945 wird unter der Leitung von Captain John C. Jack Lee Jr. (D. Grogan) ein US-Kommando in das abgeschiedene Schloss Itter in den Tiroler Alpen geschickt, damit dort hochrangige französische Geiseln vor der Waffen-SS gerettet werden können. Ausgerechnet deutsche Wehrmachtssoldaten bieten ihre Unterstützung an, weil sie endgültig genug vom NS-Regime haben. Die Amerikaner sind skeptisch, doch als die Waffen-SS das Schloss belagert, kämpfen sie Seite an Seite mit den Deutschen und den Franzosen, um zu überleben …

Based on true events. A small detachment of the 12th Armored Division is sent to rescue French political prisoners near the end of WWII. The soldiers take an instant dislike to the elite French who are equally unimpressed with the small rag-tag force sent to save them. But as SS troops surround the castle, the soldiers and prisoners will have to fight together if they have any chance of surviving the onslaught of the Elite SS soldiers.
