As the Red Army approaches Budapest in 1944, Governor Miklós Horthy realizes that the war is lost for Hungary. He attempts to negotiate a separate peace treaty with the Soviet Union to prevent further destruction of his country. However, German intelligence and the SS, led by Otto Skorzeny, launch a counter-operation to kidnap Horthy’s son and force the Regent’s abdication.
