[vc_row][vc_column width=”3\/4″][vc_column_text]An incredible 37 years after filming began, “Grizzly 2: Revenge<\/strong>“, starring the then practically unknown George Clooney<\/strong>, Laura Dern<\/strong> and Charlie Sheen<\/strong> – and a giant grizzly! – finally made its way to the public. UCM.ONE<\/strong><\/span> is releasing the film in Germany on the U3<\/span> Films Berlin<\/strong> label. The American action-thriller-horror film by director Andr\u00e9 Sz\u00f6ts<\/strong> is a sequel to the 1976 film “Grizzly<\/strong>“, directed by William Girdler<\/strong> and David Sheldon<\/strong>.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The film centres on a giant grizzly who seeks revenge after its cub is killed by poachers. It stars Steve Inwood<\/strong>, Louise Fletcher<\/strong>, John Rhys-Davies<\/strong>, Deborah Raffin<\/strong> and Deborah Foreman<\/strong>. Supporting roles include George Clooney<\/strong>, Laura Dern<\/strong> and Charlie Sheen<\/strong>, who had even turned down the lead role in “The Karate Kid<\/strong>” (1984) to star in this film.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Filming took place mainly in Budapest in 1983. The day after the film crew arrived in Hungary, producer Joe Proctortold his colleague Suzanne Nagy<\/strong> that financing for the film had not been found. He disappeared the same day, leaving 300 people behind on the set.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Suzanne Nagy<\/strong> kept the information to herself and desperately searched for a way to still realise the film. Fortunately, a Japanese investor showed up and put up enough money to continue filming.<\/span>[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/4″][vc_single_image image=”62793″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”64308″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”64311″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n

But at some point the production ran out of money and the Hungarian government confiscated most of the production equipment because bills had not been paid. Post-production was therefore never completed. In 1987, the Cannon Group, Inc.<\/strong> acquired the film and planned to complete post-production and release the film, but the company ran into financial difficulties in 1988 and the film was forgotten.<\/span><\/div>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”64314″ img_size=”full” onclick=”link_image”][vc_column_text]There were in fact lingering doubts that “Grizzly 2<\/strong>” was just an industry rumour until a working copy surfaced on the internet in 2007. 37 years after the initial filming. Finally, in 2020, \u201eGrizzly 2: The Revenge<\/strong>\u201c premiered at the Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival<\/strong>.
