The track is taken from their upcoming EP, \u201cStrix<\/b>\u201d, which is due for release on 11 September.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]A clear indication of the band\u2019s changed musical direction, \u201cNew Moon Rising on Florence<\/b>\u201d is a raw, intense and uncompromising track. This single serves as a central point of reference, drawing on old memories of the deathcore era with its strong black metal influences, whilst signalling a deliberate shift towards a less symphonic and more hardcore-oriented sound.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

The band say: \u201cWith \u2018New Moon Rising on Florence\u2019, we wanted to capture a sound that is completely authentic and unmistakably \u2018Drown in Sulphur\u2019.\u201d \u201cFollowing the changes to our current line-up, we entered a phase of intense self-reflection. We knew we had to change \u2013 to return to our roots whilst adapting to the modern era. We focused on the pure essence and left out the aggressive elements. The result is a track that feels incredibly authentic and devastating.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

They continue: \u201cThematically, this song and the entire EP delve into profound, biblical and dystopian contexts that are closely and strongly interwoven with Masonic references. All of this forms part of the \u2018Strix\u2019 concept, which centres on the mythological figure of the \u2018Strix\u2019 \u2013 an ancient, ominous night bird that heralds a bad omen. Florence serves as the backdrop and points to a new, rebellious perspective on the world, in which ancient fears resurface in the present day.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
