\nSwedish symphonic metal band Zornheym<\/b> have released their second single and accompanying music video, \u2018Deus Rex\u2019<\/b>, taken from their upcoming studio album \u2018Descending Into Madness\u2019<\/b>, which is due for release on 2 October<\/b> via Noble Demon<\/b>. Following the first glimpse into their new chapter with \u2018Somewhere Far Beyond<\/b>\u2019, the band now presents a track that opens the album in a fast, hard-hitting and cinematic manner. \u2018Deus Rex<\/b>\u2019 serves as a prologue to the overarching narrative of \u2018Descending Into Madness\u2019<\/b> and delves deeper into the dark history of the Zornheim Asylum <\/b>universe.
\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”3\/5″][vc_column_text css=””]\u2018We knew we wanted a fast, powerful track to open \u201cDescending Into Madness<\/strong>\u201d<\/i>\u2019, explains mastermind Zorn<\/b>. “The first idea that came to mind was an unreleased Devian song that had originally been written for the third album. So this track was created in collaboration with Emil Dragutinovic<\/strong> (<\/em>ex-Marduk, ex-Devian, ex-The Legion<\/em><\/b>). It started with his original idea, mixed with some of my own. We kept the core of the song but completely \u201cZornheymified\u201d it \u2013 I wrote new parts, and Scucca added the chorus break. The result is absolutely stunning.<\/em>“[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]He continues: “From a narrative perspective, this song serves as a prologue to the entire prequel. It takes us back to a time when the asylum served as a field hospital during the Thirty Years\u2019 War, and to that terrible night when a group of deserters were brutally executed on the shores of Lake S\u00eala (the lake near the asylum) and hanged from the old oak tree.
