On Sunday evening, April 19, 2026, the feature film \u201cPlan F<\/strong>\u201d by director Ina Balon<\/strong> celebrated its Berlin premiere at the Babylon Berlin-Mitte<\/strong> cinema. The film was screened at 6:15 p.m. in the Feature Film Competition <\/strong>of the 22nd achtung berlin film festival<\/strong> \u2013 another important step toward its theatrical release in late 2026 via the UCM.ONE<\/span> film label Darling Berlin<\/strong>.<\/div>\n

\u201cPlan F<\/strong>\u201d is Ina Balon<\/strong>\u2019s feature film debut and has already been honored with two awards at the 59th International Hof Film Festival 2025<\/strong>: the Friedrich Baur Gold Prize<\/strong> for Best Director of a First Feature Film and the Hof Critics\u2019 Prize<\/strong>. The Berlin premiere as part of the achtung berlin filmfestival<\/strong>, whose partners UCM.ONE<\/span> and Darling Berlin<\/strong> are participating for the eleventh time this year, marks the film\u2019s first public screening in the capital and the Berlin production\u2019s encounter with its home audience.<\/div>\n

In the nearly sold-out movie theater 1 at Babylon, \u201cPlan F<\/strong>\u201d received an overwhelmingly positive response. Carried by the energetic performances of the two leading actresses, the film swung through loud, funny, moving, and tragic moments\u2014and visibly swept the audience along with it. There were repeated bursts of laughter, followed by moments of silence; in the end, one feeling lingered above all others, one that many guests shared afterward: moving. A mood that carried well into the subsequent Q&A session.<\/div>\n

Following the screening, director<\/strong> and producer Ina Balon<\/strong>, lead actress Ursula Renneke<\/strong> (Maya), producer Jannik B\u00fcddig<\/strong> (ZAK Film Productions), screenwriter Claudius Beutler<\/strong>, and cinematographer Jochen Askari<\/strong> took questions from a very interested audience in the Babylon\u2019s Oval. Lead actress B\u00e4rbel Schwarz<\/strong> (Franka) was unable to attend due to a theater engagement. The discussion lasted over 30 minutes and provided insights into the film\u2019s creation\u2014from the development of the story and the work with the two lead actresses, through the casting, to the visual language that balances the vastness of Brandenburg with the intimacy of Berlin.<\/p>\n

Ina Balon describes her film, which at its core revolves around two sisters who can no longer pretend to each other, as \u201ca declaration of love for failure\u2014not a film about reconciliation, but about the struggle not to lose sight of one another.\u201d An attitude that palpably carried the evening at Babylon even beyond the screen.<\/p>\n
