UCM.ONE <\/span>\/ DARLING BERLIN<\/strong> is supporting the 22nd edition of the Achtung Berlin Festival with a film in the competition, a panel it organized during the industry days, and the endowment of the award for Best Acting.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

From April 15 to 22, 2026, the achtung berlin filmfestival<\/strong> will once again open its theaters to showcase films from the capital region. In its 22nd edition, the festival will screen around 80 current feature films, documentaries, medium-length films, and short films, as well as series, at nine venues across Berlin\u2014from the Babylon and the Colosseum to the Bali Kino in Zehlendorf. The opening ceremony took place on April 15 at the historic Colosseum in Prenzlauer Berg\u2014a venue that has been one of Berlin\u2019s most traditional movie theaters since its opening in 1924 and made history in the 1950s as East Berlin\u2019s premier cinema.<\/div>\n

The lineup includes six world and German premieres in the feature film program alone, and 19 world premieres in the short and medium-length film categories. UCM.ONE<\/span> and its Berlin-based film label Darling Berlin<\/strong> are serving as official festival partners<\/strong> for the eleventh time this year and are once again sponsoring the Award for Best Acting<\/strong>, worth 1,000 euros, which will be presented to two actors. This year\u2019s Feature Film Jury<\/strong>, consisting of director and writer Christoph Hochh\u00e4usler<\/strong>, actress Christina Gro\u00dfe<\/strong>, and producer Mariam Shatberashvili<\/strong>, will decide on the winners.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Deserving special attention this year is the feature film <\/span>PLAN F<\/strong> by director Ina Balon, which <\/span>UCM.ONE<\/span> recently acquired for theatrical distribution and international sales. This feature film debut tells the story of two very different sisters: Franka, the punk, and Maya, the conservative, who find themselves on a nighttime road trip from Brandenburg to Berlin\u2014triggered by Franka\u2019s desperate attempt to rescue her youngest sister from a precarious situation. What follows is a night filled with pent-up conflicts and unexpected closeness. Director Ina Balon describes the film as a \u201cdeclaration of love to failure\u201d\u2014not focused on reconciliation, but on \u201cnot losing sight of one another.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

PLAN F<\/strong> has already been honored at the 59th Hof Film Festival 2025<\/strong> with the Friedrich Baur Gold Prize<\/strong> for Best Directing in a Debut Film as well as the Hof Critics\u2019 Prize<\/strong>. As part of the achtung berlin film festival<\/strong>, the film is screening in the Feature Film Competition<\/strong>. The Berlin premiere will take place on Sunday, April 19 at 6:15 p.m.<\/strong> at the historic Kino Babylon in Berlin-Mitte<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“Breaking the Stigma” \u2014 A panel discussion organized by Darling Berlin as part of the achtung berlin Industry Days<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Beyond the screen, <\/span>UCM.ONE<\/span> \/ <\/span>Darling Berlin<\/strong> is also making a programmatic commitment this year: As part of the <\/span>achtung berlin Industry Days<\/strong>, <\/span>Darling Berlin<\/strong> initiated the panel discussion \u201cBreaking the Stigma,\u201d which will take place on <\/span>Monday, April 20, from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.<\/strong> at the <\/span>Gr\u00fcner Salon<\/strong> of the <\/span>Volksb\u00fchne am Rosa-Luxemburg-Platz<\/strong>. <\/span><\/div>\n

The panel will explore how films can concretely help break down prejudices and deconstruct stereotypical narratives. What artistic and thematic approaches exist? What role do personal experiences with stigmatization and discrimination play? And does making socially critical films automatically mean you have to be an activist? In addition to the cinematic discourse, the panel also focuses on the funding and distribution of films that break down stigmas.<\/div>\n

The discussion will feature directors Ina Balon<\/strong> (PLAN F<\/strong>, Feature Film Competition), Yann Rehberg<\/strong> (VOM B\u00d6SEN BLICK<\/strong>, Mid-Length Film Competition), and Ali Tamim<\/strong> (NOAH<\/strong>, Feature Film Competition). The discussion will be moderated by Karoline R\u00f6\u00dfler<\/strong>, herself the director of the film INTERSECTION \u2014 EVERYTHING IS POLITICAL<\/strong> (Berlin Special). The format is deliberately interactive: audience participation is expressly encouraged.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
