UCM.ONE<\/span> has acquired the feature film “Plan F<\/strong>” (Germany 2025, 86 minutes) by director Ina Balon<\/strong> for world sales and theatrical distribution. The film premiered at the 59th Hof International Film Festival<\/strong>, where it was awarded the Friedrich Baur Gold Prize<\/strong> and the Hof Critics’ Prize<\/strong>. “Plan F<\/strong>” was produced by Ina Balon<\/strong> and Jannik B\u00fcddig<\/strong> (ZAK Film Productions).<\/p>\n

The Friedrich Baur Gold Prize<\/strong> is awarded during the International Hof Film Festival<\/strong> by the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts<\/strong> “in memoriam Heinz Badewitz” for the best directorial achievement in a first feature film<\/strong>. With a certified gold bar worth a total of around 35,000 euros<\/strong>, the prize is one of the most highly endowed awards for young directors in the German-speaking world; it also includes a one-year mentoring program<\/strong> to provide artistic support for a new project. In 2025, the prize was shared and awarded jointly to Ina Balon<\/strong>‘s “Plan F”<\/strong>\u00a0and Alexander Conrads’ “Together Apart”<\/strong>\u00a0which\u00a0is also available from UCM.ONE<\/span> for theatrical distribution and worldwide sales.<\/p>\n

With the acquisition of “Plan F<\/strong>,” UCM.ONE<\/span> is expanding its portfolio with an award-winning festival film with a strong, independent directorial signature.<\/p>\n

Synopsis<\/span><\/p>\n

“Plan F<\/strong>” tells the story of sisters Franka (B\u00e4rbel Schwarz) and Maya (Ursula Renneke): Franka is a punk, wild and loud, “on the decline,” while Maya has settled into a life of rubber boots, coffee with her parents, and “zero desire for change.” When Franka thinks she has seen her lost youngest sister on the street, she wants to “save” Maya at least\u2014whether she wants it or not. What follows is a chaotic road trip from Brandenburg to Berlin, a night full of arguments, laughter, old guilt, and new honesty. In the end, there is no solution\u2014but perhaps a beginning.<\/p>\n

Ina Balon<\/strong>‘s film is a declaration of love for failure: for siblings who hate each other, love each other, annoy each other, and yet cannot escape each other. Franka lives loudly, Maya lives quietly\u2014and between these two temperaments, the film explores themes of overwhelm and closeness, mockery and protection, love and boredom. Both have lost their way and cling to each other; he seeks the moment when defiance turns to closeness, friction to insight, and anger to something like hope. Franka and Maya are not heroines, but women with pride and a rather twisted sense of humor, characters who can no longer delude themselves. Thus, “Plan F<\/strong>” is not a film about reconciliation, but about the struggle not to lose sight of each other: about sisters who don’t know how to talk about pain and yet don’t want to give up on each other.<\/p>\n
