On 19 March 2024, the nominations for the German Film Awards 2024<\/strong> were announced by the German Film Academy<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

UCM.ONE<\/strong><\/span> congratulates Barbara Philipp<\/strong> on her nomination in the category “Best female supporting role<\/strong>“<\/em> in the feature film “Talk to me<\/strong>” (German original title “Sprich mit mir)<\/strong>” by Janin Halisch<\/strong>. “Talk to me<\/strong>” is distributed by UCM.ONE<\/strong><\/span> on the Darling Berlin<\/strong> label in cinemas in Germany and worldwide. This nomination honours the outstanding acting performance of Barbara Philipp<\/strong>, who created a convincing, humanly approachable character in the role of mother Michaela in a complex coming-of-age drama.<\/p>\n

Barbara Philipp<\/strong> (born 19 October 1965 in Wittlich) studied German language and literature as well as film and theatre studies at the Free University of Berlin<\/strong> after graduating from high school. She then completed her acting training from 1988 to 1993 at the Berlin acting school<\/strong> “Der Kreis<\/strong>” (Fritz Kirchhoff School<\/strong>) and the HB Studios<\/strong> in New York. She then returned to Germany and had theatre engagements at the Schaub\u00fchne am Halleschen Ufer<\/strong>, the Berliner Ensemble<\/strong> and the Staatsschauspiel Dresden<\/strong>. In 2018, she was involved in the “Wild World Forest – Theatre Performance<\/strong>” by BBM<\/strong>, the Divan Gallery<\/strong> and the Elbe River Landscape Biosphere Reserve<\/strong> (Ferbitzer Forst, Gadow).<\/p>\n

\nIn 1994, Philipp made her film debut in the leading role of Franziska B\u00e4cker<\/em> in the ZDF<\/strong> film drama “Nah am Wasser<\/strong>“, directed by Marc Ottiker<\/strong> alongside Sven Pippig<\/strong>. In the same film she played in the short film “Spieglein, Spieglein<\/strong>“. From 1997 to 1998, she played the role of Katja Goldbach<\/em> in the TV series “Die Kids von Berlin<\/strong>“. In 1999, she was cast as Bille<\/em> in a supporting role in the Kerstin Gier<\/strong> film “Men and Other Disasters<\/strong>“. In 2004, she was a regular in the ZDF<\/strong> crime series “Einmal Bulle, immer Bulle”<\/strong> as chief inspector Hanne Krause.<\/em>

Barbara Philipp<\/strong> was nominated for the 2004 German Television Award<\/strong> in the category “Best Supporting Actress<\/strong>“<\/em> for her role as drug addict Nina Grote<\/em> in the Tatort<\/strong> episode “Das B\u00f6se<\/strong>” by Frankfurt investigative duo Dellwo<\/em> and S\u00e4nger<\/em>. Since 2010, she has played the role of LKA administrative employee Magda W\u00e4chter<\/em> alongside Ulrich Tukur<\/strong> as Felix Murot<\/em> in the Tatort<\/strong> episodes produced by Hessischer Rundfunk<\/strong>. From 2011 to 2017, she played Kriminaldirektorin Kessler<\/em> in the ZDF<\/strong> crime series “Der Kriminalist<\/strong>“. In 2019, she took on the leading role in Matthias Steurer<\/strong>‘s “Viele K\u00fche und ein schwarzes Schaf<\/strong>” as veterinarian Beate M\u00fcller<\/em> alongside Matthias Brenner<\/strong> and Oliver Konietzny<\/strong>. Since 2021, she has played a continuous supporting role in the ZDF<\/strong> hospital series “Doktor Ballouz<\/strong>” as petrol station owner Cindy<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In “Dark<\/strong>“, “Das Haus der Tr\u00e4ume<\/strong>” and as the legendary gangster boss in “Babylon Berlin<\/strong>“, she can be seen in internationally successful series productions.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Karo (28) is newly separated and is struggling with her non-existent relationship with her father. When her mother Michaela (50) wants to take her on holiday to R\u00fcgen, Karo suspects another failed male affair. What begins as a spontaneous trip soon turns out to be a journey into the past of two women who couldn’t be more different: Michaela wants a distraction, Karo wants peace and quiet.<\/p>\n

When they arrive at the hotel, they meet the newly divorced Jochen (60) and his teenage daughter Marie (16). For Michaela, Jochen is a holiday flirt and for Karo he could be the answer to all her questions and longings, while Marie is the mirror of a youth that Karo never had. Mother and daughter quickly realise that their absent father has left a void that is bigger and more painful than they thought. Old wounds are torn open and both try to heal in their own way and free themselves from their entrenched roles.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

The German Film Prize<\/strong> (formerly the Federal Film Prize<\/strong>), often referred to as the Lola<\/strong>, has been awarded since 1951 and is considered the most prestigious award for German film. With prize money totalling almost three million euros, it is the most highly endowed German cultural award. The German Film Prize<\/strong> is awarded annually in the spring\/summer, broadcast alternately by ARD<\/strong> and ZDF<\/strong>, and produced by Deutsche Filmakademie Produktion <\/strong>GmbH, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the German Film Academy<\/strong>. The film award is symbolised by the Lola statuette<\/strong>, which is awarded in gold to the winners of the various categories. In the “Best Feature Film<\/strong>“<\/em> category, it is also awarded in bronze and silver.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The announcement of the nominations took place in a new setting this year: Minister of State for Culture Claudia Roth<\/strong> and the presidential duo of the German Film Academy<\/strong>, Alexandra Maria Lara<\/strong> and Florian Gallenberger<\/strong>, presented seven nominations live on ARD’s Mittagsmagazin<\/strong> programme. Immediately beforehand, Film Academy board member Dennenesch Zoud\u00e9<\/strong> and Film Prize ambassador Lucas Reiber<\/strong> had announced the nominations in ten film disciplines in a livestream on the ARD Mediathek<\/strong>. The underlying voting procedure was also new this year: For the first time, the more than 2,200 members of the German Film Academy<\/strong> were able to vote directly on the submitted films – and not, as previously, via a reduced pre-selection made by a commission. In addition, for the first time, all members were able to vote for the “Best Feature Film<\/strong>“<\/em> and the “Best Children’s Film<\/strong>“<\/em> during the nomination phase. Another new feature is that from 2024, set decorators will also be nominated and honoured in the Best Production Design<\/em> category alongside production designers.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The award ceremony will take place on 3 May 2024 in Berlin. Members have until 30 April to vote in the second stage to decide who will be the Lola<\/strong> winner on stage on 3 May 2024. ARD<\/strong> will broadcast the award ceremony live in the ARD Mediathek at 7.30 pm and on linear television at 10.20 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n
