On January 18, 2024, the feature film “Talk to me<\/strong>” (Original German title: “Sprich mir mir<\/strong>“) by Janin Halisch<\/strong> will celebrate its cinema premiere at Berlin’s renowned Colosseum Filmtheater<\/strong> on Sch\u00f6nhauser Allee in the Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin. Following the screening, radio presenter and film critic Knut Elstermann<\/strong> will hold a film discussion with director Janin Halisch<\/strong>, the main actors Alina Stiegler<\/strong>, Barbara Philipp<\/strong> and Peter Lohmeyer<\/strong> and producer Clara Gerst<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With the cinema premiere of “Talk to me<\/strong>“, UCM.ONE<\/strong><\/span> is continuing its collaboration with the traditional Colosseum Filmtheater<\/strong>, which is also celebrating its 100th birthday in 2024.<\/p>\n

Karo (28) is newly separated and is struggling with her non-existent relationship with her father. When her mother Michaela (50) wants to take her on holiday to R\u00fcgen, Karo suspects another failed male affair. What begins as a spontaneous trip soon turns out to be a journey into the past of two women who couldn’t be more different: Michaela wants a distraction, Karo wants peace and quiet.<\/p>\n

When they arrive at the hotel, they meet the newly divorced Jochen (60) and his teenage daughter Marie (16). For Michaela, Jochen is a holiday flirt and for Karo he could be the answer to all her questions and longings, while Marie is the mirror of a youth that Karo never had. Mother and daughter quickly realise that their absent father has left a void that is bigger and more painful than they thought.<\/p>\n

Janin Halisch<\/strong> was born in East Berlin in 1984. She gained her first film experience at the Filmarche<\/strong>, a self-organised film school in Berlin-Kreuzberg.<\/p>\n

Janin Halisch<\/strong> has been studying directing at the German Film and Television Academy Berlin<\/strong> (DFFB<\/strong>) since 2009. She graduated in 2022. To date, she has written and realised several short and medium-length films that have screened successfully at national and international festivals. She works as a freelance director, writer and dramaturge. In 2021 she shot three episodes of the 2nd season for the ZDF<\/strong> series “Echt<\/strong>“.<\/p>\n

“Ever since I was born, I’ve been going on holiday with my mother. This woman who laughs at everything, who is scarred by life, and her late-pubescent, all-controlling daughter. Holidays with my mother are full of humour, shame, pain and love. They have shaped my life. My generation was mainly raised by women. The absence of fathers and the mistrust between the sexes shaped our mothers and us. The absence of a father is always present in Karo’s life too. Mother and daughter have to prove again and again how well they can compensate for this absence. The complex bond that this creates still too rarely finds its way onto the screen, yet this is precisely what has always accompanied and deeply moved me as a director and writer.”<\/em><\/p>\n
