From 6 to 27 December 2020 the Goethe-Instituts Indonesien, Thailand and Malaysia are jointly presenting the online film festival entitled Darling, Berlin! Berlin Sayang! Berlin, Teerak!<\/b> This year’s program screens six independent from the film label Darling Berlin <\/strong>located in\u00a0the German capital. The films were mainly made by directors who had only one or two professional films to their credit – young directors who studied at the Film Academy in Berlin and worked in the capital. Their works exhibit great enthusiasm and courage in experimenting with uncompromising visual language and performances by as yet mostly unknown actors. <\/span><\/div>\n

[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]The filming location Berlin is also of special importance in these stories because this year celebrates the 30th anniversary of the reunification on 3 October 1990 of the formerly divided Germany, which began on 9 November 1989 with the fall of the Berlin Wall thanks to the peaceful revolution.[\/vc_column_text][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text]The program of the Darling, Berlin! Berlin, Sayang! Berlin, Teerak!<\/b> film festival offers an exciting insight into the current life of Berlin through a series of characters with diverse backgrounds and desires. In “Datsche<\/b>” an asylum seeker spends the summer in a typical small garden settlement with the local residents, while “Schwimmen<\/b>” portrays the lives of today\u2019s teenagers and their interactions with virtual images, nearly 24 hours a day. In “Lotte<\/b>” we see a strong and mysterious female figure who goes from one apartment to the next, in and out in dark Berlin, and meets people who cannot understand her search for love and discomfort. After Lotte’s loneliness, in “Rocket Perelman<\/b>” we turn to a theater collective that fights for its existence and at the same time puts the personal lives of its members in the foreground.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Will their solidarity be sufficient to overcome their personal ambitions and the demands of an increasingly commercial era?[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][vc_column_inner width=”1\/2″][vc_single_image image=”46931″ img_size=”full” onclick=”zoom”][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_column_text]At first glance the films “Luca tanzt leise”<\/strong>\u00a0(English title: “Dancing\u00a0<\/strong>Quietly<\/b>“) and “R\u00fcckenwind von vorn<\/strong>”\u00a0(English title: “Away You Go<\/strong>“) do not seem to have anything in common. But if you look closely, the paths of the characters in the two films cross.
